The Mojimix Concept
Emojis and stickers enrich digital communication by literally giving our feelings a “face.” Linguists believe that 90% of human language is conveyed by facial expressions and body language; stickers and emojis can often replace text altogether.
But people don’t express the same ideas in the same ways, and some expressions are unique to specific cultures. Thus the idea for Mojimix was born: a visual tool to help people to express themselves, overcome language barriers, and discover the wonderful quirks of cultures around the world!
Months of brainstorming and research made us realize that there was huge scope for this app, ranging from food and drink to landmarks, clothing, arts and crafts, transport, music, dance, and celebrations. We want to celebrate iconic traditions like Moroccan tea ceremonies, Ukranian flower crowns, Aboriginal Australian boomerangs, and Turkish dondurma ice-cream, and introduce Mojimix users to amazing customs they might never have heard of.
Mojimix stickers also work a bit like postcards, offering many memorable travel sights such as mopeds piled high with people and even domestic animals, vivid New Year celebrations, stunning architecture, and quirky inventions – the things that make you fall in love with a country.
And the more details we encountered, the more unity we saw between people all around the world. Musical instruments, weddings, or handcrafts like textiles or jewelry all have unique expressions in each place, but they come out of human experiences that we all share.
The challenge has been to balance the need for authenticity with respect for individual cultures. As tricky as this balance can be, we felt it was vital to raise awareness of global cultures as a means of bringing people together – in a simple, enjoyable way. We hope you enjoy the Mojimix fingertip trip around the world!
